Beautiful photographs are simply what happen when someone finally allows themself to be seen.
For years, I've listened to people tell me the same things.
"I hate having my picture taken."
"I'm waiting until I lose weight."
"I'm not photogenic."
"Maybe someday..."
What I've discovered is that it has very little to do with the camera.
It has everything to do with how we see ourselves.
Somewhere along the way, many of us begin measuring our worth against impossible standards. We become our own harshest critics. We stop celebrating the incredible life our bodies has carried us through, and instead focus on every perceived flaw.
When did you stop recognizing yourself in the mirror?
